Eric Bigham has been named MIAC Baseball Player of the Week.

Eric Bigham has been named MIAC Baseball Player of the Week.

Gustavus Adolphus College freshman first baseman/left fielder Eric Bigham (Robbinsdale, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret’s) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 15, 2007. Bigham hit .538 on the week, going 7-for-13 with two doubles, a grand slam home run, five RBIs, and five runs scored in five games. Bigham was also walked twice, stole a base and made 10 putouts in the field.

In the 9-2 game one win over Saint John’s April 15, Bigham went 3-for-4 with a double and a grand slam home run. He also scored three times. In game two, the freshman went 1-for-3 and drove in a run. Bigham went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in the April 14 doubleheader sweep of Augsburg and also had a pinch-hit single in the eighth inning of Gustavus’ 4-3, 10-inning win over Hamline April 9.

Bigham, who has not declared a major, is the son of Mark and Renae Bigham of Robbinsdale and a 2005 graduate of Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School.
