Gustavus sophomore Matt Stewart (Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley) has been named MIAC Swimmer of the Week for his efforts in helping the Gusties to a second place finish at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. Stewart won both the 500 freestyle (4:41.28) and the 200 Butterfly (1:54.51) and he was also a part of two winning relays, the 400 free relay and the 800 free relay.

Stewart’s time of 1:54.51 in the 200 fly met the NCAA B Provisional Standard and his time of 1:42.88 in the 800 free relay was the fastest 200 split posted in the meet.

The Gusties (799) were edged out of the team title at the Stevens Point Invitational in the final event of meet by UW-La Crosse (807.5).
