The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team fired a second-round 308 to finish tied with UW-Eau Claire for fourth place at the Saint John’s Invitational Sunday at Blackberry Ridge G.C. in Sartell. The Gustie Gold squad and the Blugolds each shot 36-hole team totals of 623 to finish eight strokes behind the Blue squad from host Saint John’s. The Gustie Black squad finished finished tied for 12th (655).
Erik Tone finished as the highest-placed Gustie in a tie for 13th place after shooting 80-75–155. Mark Stuckey finished one stroke back (79-77–156) in a tie for 16th place. After ending round one in second place with a 75, first year Ricky Copeland shot an 82 to finish in a tie for 21st place at 157. Jordan Hawkinson (83-76–159) and Eric Harris (81-80–161) rounded out scores for the Gustavus Gold squad.
Riley Hoffman (80-83) and Derek Hilding (85-78) were the highest placed members of the Gustavus Black squad with 163s, two shots ahead of A.J. Olson, who fired rounds of 79 and 86 to finish at 165. Greg Palm shot 81-85–166, while Kyle Rohlfs withdrew after a first-round 85.
The Gusties will next compete Sept. 24-25 at UW-Eau Claire’s Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Collegiate in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
