Men’s Golf Tied for Sixth After Day One of Saint John’s Invite Posted on September 16th, 2006 by

Led by first-year Ricky Copeland‘s 75, the Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team sits in a sixth place tie with host Saint John’s after day one of the Saint John’s Invitational with a 18-hole team total of 315. Copeland is tied with two other golfers just one shot off the lead. St. Thomas (310) leads Augsburg and St. Cloud State by a stroke in the team race, while nine teams are within seven strokes of the lead. Saturday’s round was played at Greystone G.C. in Sauk Centre.

In addition to Copeland’s 75, Mark Stuckey shot a 79, Erik Tone fired an 80, Eric Harris posted an 81 and Jordan Hawkinson added an 83 for the Gustavus Gold team. A.J. Olson posted the second-lowest Gustie score on the day, with a 77 to lead the Gustavus Black team. Riley Hoffman (80), Greg Palm (81), Derek Hilding (85) and Kyle Rohlfs (85) also turned in cards for the Gustavus Black team.

Final round play begins at 9 a.m. Sunday with a shotgun start at Blackberry Ridge G.C. in Sartell.
