The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team captured third place Sunday at the Concordia Invitational held at Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Minn. The Gusties shot 325-335–660 to finish 16 shots back of champion North Dakota State (319-325–644) and 11 shots back of University of North Dakota (322-327–649). Gustavus was the highest placed Division III team in the field, finishing ahead of the University of St. Thomas (sixth, 337-336–673).
Sophomore Rachel Roberg (Rice Lake, Wis.) finished second overall to Southwest Minnesota State’s Erin Oakland after posting a final round 79 for a 36-hole total of 157. Oakland captured medalist honors with after posting rounds of 76 and 77. Kali Griggs (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.) finished 13th with an 80-84–164, while Breanne Staples (Sr., Windom, Minn.) was tied for 24th place with a 83-86–169 total. Sophomores Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Lauren Runsvold (Fargo, N.D.) rounded out the scoring for the Gusties. Kosak fired back-to-back 86s for a 172 total, while Runsvold shot 84-90–174.
The Gusties will take next weekend off before competing in the Division III Midwest Classic hosted by Carleton College Sept. 23-24 at Troy Byrne Golf Club in Hudson, Wis.
