Women’s Soccer Moves to 2-0 With 1-0 Win at UW-Whitewater Posted on September 2nd, 2006 by

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s soccer team got their second win in as many days Saturday, scoring in the second minute of the game and holding on for a 1-0 win at UW-Whitewater. Senior forward Amy Larson (Bloomington, Minn.) scored the game’s lone goal, heading in a cross off the foot of junior forward Jenna Iaizzo (White Bear Lake, Minn.). First-year Kelsey Deitz (Owatonna, Minn.) made six saves to pick up the win in her first collegiate game.

Iaizzo and Whitewater’s Julia Capel each fired off a game-high four shots. Larson and UWW senior forward Lindsay Kohlbeck each got off three shots and Gustie forward Chelsea Craven (Fy., Sauk Rapids, Minn.) finished with a pair of shots.

The Warhawks outshot the Gusties 12-11, while Gustavus held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Gusties, now 2-0 on the season, have won five straight games dating back to last season and will host Grinnell at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 in the first home event on the Gustavus intercollegiate athletics calendar.
