The Gustavus men’s tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Division III Indoor Championships with a 7-0 win over Pacific Lutheran of Tacoma, Washington. The tournament is being played at the Swanson Indoor Tennis Center on the Gustavus campus. The Gusties, who are the #3 seed, will play #2 seed Emory on Saturday at 2 pm.

Gustavus, which improved to 8-2 on the season, started the match by winning the two doubles matches necessary for the doubles point. Adam Morgan and Brett Morse-Karzen defeated Justin Larimore and David Miller 8-6 at the #1 position and Jesse Brauer and Loren Collins defeated Ben Schaefer and Jeff Loranger 8-3 at the #3 position. The Gusties then went on and won all six singles matches in straight sets.

In other quarterfinal action at the tournament, #1 seed UC-Santa Cruz defeated #7 seed DePauw University (Ind.) 6-1, #5 seed Kalamazoo College defeated #4 seed Trinity University (Tex.) 4-3, and #2 seed Emory University (Ga.) defeated #8 seed California Lutheran 7-0.

The semifinal and consolation matches will be played on Saturday with the championship and third place matches taking place on Sunday beginning at 9:00 am.
