The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team used its best bar score of the season to help claim a narrow dual meet win over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 173.875 to 173.00. Nicole Gergen took top honors on the balance beam with a score of 9.125 and Christine Askham finished first on the floor exercise with a score of 9.125. Gustavus completed the regular season with a dual meet record of 4-3.

On the vault, the Gusties posted a team score of 44.525. Senior Danielle Abel led the way with a score of 9.075 which was good for third place. Others contributing to the team score included Emily Pickford (8.95), Danielle Berg (8.925), Catherine Osterhaus (8.825), and Brittany Moore (8.75).

On the uneven parallel bars, the Gusties turned their highest score of the season with a total of 43.20. Laura Hanson finished second with a score of 9.025, while junior Audrey Schenewerk placed third with a career best score of 8.80. Others scoring for the Gusties included Christine Askham (8.60), Kathleen Ozbun (8.475), and Emily Pickford (8.30).

On the balance beam, junior Nicole Gergen garned first place honors with a season high score of 9.125. Emily Pickford finished second with a score of 8.750, and Jaime Tsurusaki placed fourth with a total of 8.50. Gustavus posted a team score of 43.025.

The Gusties closed out the meet on the vault and tallied a team score of 43.125. Christine Askham finished first with a score of 9.125. Other scores for Gustavus included Catherine Osterhaus at 8.875, Brittany Moore at 8.60, Nicole Gergen at 8.45, and Kelsie Droogsma at 8.075.

Gustavus will now prepare for the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional which will take place on Friday, March 3 at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. The top three teams at the eight-team regional will advance to the NCGA National Championships on March 24 in Rochester, New York.
