Women’s Gymnastics Team Finishes Third at Gershon Invitational

The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team finished third out of four teams at the Gershon Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. The Gusties posted a season high team score of 172.00 which included a season vault total of 45.70.

The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team finished third out of four teams at the Gershon Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. The Gusties posted a season high team score of 172.00 which included a season vault total of 45.70. Host UW-La Crosse won the meet with a score of 178.325, while UW-Eau Claire finished second at 175.40, followed by Gustavus at 172.00, and UW-Oshkosh at 169.40.

The Gusties team score of 172.00 included individual event totals of 45.70 on the vault, 41.425 on the uneven bars, 42.075 on the balance beam, and 42.80 on the floor exercise.

On the vault, Gustavus was led by Brittany Moore, who placed third with a score of 9.35, and Emily Pickford, who placed fourth at 9.275. Others scoring for the Gusties included Danielle Abel at 9.20 (7th), Danielle Berg at 9.15 (9th), and Greta Blomme at 8.725 (19th).

On the uneven bars, the Gusties were led by Laura Hansen who finished third with a total of 9.00. Christine Askham placed ninth with a score of 8.50, while Audrey Schenewerk finished 16th at 8.075, Emily Pickford placed 17th at 8.00, and Danielle Abel placed 19th at 7.85.

On the balance beam, Laura Hansen led the way with a score of 8.90 (7th). Others scoring were Nicole Gergen at 8.70 (9th), Jaime Tsurusaki at 8.525 (12th), Catherine Osterhaus at 8.10 (17th), and Kelsie Droogsma at 7.850 (21st).

On the floor exercise, Nicole Gergen placed seventh with a total of 8.775 and Dana Ryerson finished tenth with a total of 8.575. Others that contributed to the team score were Brittany Moore at 8.55 (11th), Catherine Osterhaus at 8.50 (14th), and Christine Askham at 8.40 (18th).

Gustavus will take part in the Best of Minnesota meet next Saturday, February 11 at 6:00 pm at the University of Minnesota.
