Junior Andrea Peterson has been named MIAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey player Andrea Peterson (White Bear Lake, Minn.) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 29, 2006. Peterson tallied four goals and four assists in leading the Gusties to a weekend sweep of St. Olaf last weekend by the scores of 12-2 and 10-0.

Peterson scored two goals and recorded three assists in Friday night’s 12-2 win in St. Peter. She then added two goals and one assist in Saturday night’s 10-0 win in Northfield. Peterson, who has scored at least one point in every game this season, is tied for first in Division III in scoring per game at 2.06 points per game. This season, she has compiled 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points.

The Gusties (14-1-1 overall, 12-0-0 MIAC) are No.3 in the most recent USCHO.com Division III women’s poll and will face No.2 Plattsburgh (N.Y.) Thursday night in Plattsburgh before a match-up with No.1 Middlebury at Middlebury. Middlebury is the two-time defending national champion and has won 23 games in a row.
