The Gustavus men’s soccer team recorded a convincing 3-0 over Augsburg on a beautiful fall afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties, who outshot the Auggies 19-3, improved to 9-2-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the MIAC. Bobby Kroog scored a goal in each half to lead the Gusties.

Senior central defender Jordan Iblings scored the first goal of the game on a free kick early in the first half. Iblings drove a ball high into the air that fooled the Augsburg keeper Evan Fuhs and found its way into the net at the 16:38 mark.

Just over a minute later, senior midfielder Bobby Kroog extended the Gustavus lead to 2-0 when he headed in a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Jeffrey Johnson past Fuhs at the 17:44 mark. The first half ended with the Gusties holding a 2-0 lead. Gustavus outshot Augsburg 10-3 in the first half.

The Gusties, who continued to control play in the second half, posted their third goal of the game at the 77:31 mark. Senior midfielder Chris Pinahs outran an Augsburg defender down the right side and sent a cross that Bobby Kroog ran onto at the far post and drove into an open net. Gustavus outshot the Auggies 9-0 in the second half.

Gustavus goalkeeper Tyler Garry made two saves and posted his fourth shutout of the season. Augsburg goalkeeper Evan Fuhs made seven saves.
