The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s golf team is scheduled to participate in the Buena Vista University Classic on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16. Friday’s round is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be held at the Spencer Country Club in Spencer, Iowa. Saturday’s round is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. and will be played at Lake Creek Country Club in Storm Lake, Iowa.

The 36-hole competition will feature 19 teams from 17 schools. The schools scheduled to attend are: Buena Vista, Northwestern, Loras, Luther, Cornell, Central, UW-Eau Claire, Gustavus Adolphus, Nebraska Wesleyan, Augsburg, Coe, Iowa Lakes CC, Wartburg, Simpson, Upper Iowa, Mt. Mercy, and Indian Hills CC.

This weekend’s tournament is extremely important for Gustavus. It will be the only time this season that the Gusties will face some of their regional opponents.

Head Coach Scott Moe’s squad is anxious to compete this weekend after opening the season nearly a month ago. The Gusties opened their spring season by participating in the Hall of Fame Invitational in Humble, Texas March 18-20 at the Redstone Golf Club. The prestigious tournament included ten of the top Division I teams in the country along with the defending Division II National Champions, University of South Carolina at Aitken and the defending Division III champion Gusties. Gustavus placed 19th overall with a 54-hole team score of 326-307-318–951 (+87).

“The Hall of Fame Invitational was a great learning experience for the team,” Coach Moe commented. “We have had some really good practices since then and we are ready to compete.”

Results of the tournament will be available on the Buena Vista University Athletics Website.
