Women’s Indoor Track & Field Places Fourth at Ted Nelson Classic Posted on February 12th, 2005 by

The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team tallied 44.50 team points to finish fourth at the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato. Host Minnesota State won the event with 104 team points.

Gustavus won two running events at the meet. Ashley Cronen recorded a time of 59.84 to win the 400 meter dash, while Kourtney Joyce won the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:33.28. Other notable performers were Val Berquam with a second place finish in the 1 mile race, Tash Pike with a second place finish in the 5,000 meter run, and Blythe Bittman with a third place finish in the 60 meter dash.

in the field events, Kristi Schnieder placed third in pole vault clearing a height of 11′ .25″. Shanda Dawson finished fourth in the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump Dawson recorded a distance of 16′ 10.50″ and in the triple jump Dawson recorded a distance of 34′ 9.75″.

Gustavus will return to action on February 18 when they will be competing at the University of Minnesota Invite.
