Men’s Swimming Defeats Carleton 231-66

The Gustavus men’s swimming and diving team defeated Carleton on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. Scott Hagemeyer and Greg Pokorski won two events each and Will Sutor set a new pool record in the 100 butterfly.

The Gustavus men’s swimming and diving team hosted conference opponent Carleton College on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties improve to 3-1 in dual meet action as they defeated the Knights 231-66.

Individually, ten different Gusties claimed event titles. The Gusties were led by Scott Hagemeyer and Greg Pokorski. Hagemeyer won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle with times of 21.56 and 48.26, respectively. Pokorski claimed two event titles as well, winning the 500 freestyle and the 200 IM with times of 5:00.52 and 2:05.82, respectively.

Will Sutor set a new pool record in the 100 butterfly with a winning time of 51.29. Other winners were Ben Hanson in the 1000 freestyle (9:59.35), Jeff Pearson in the 100 backstroke (55.67), Brad Hammer in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.29), Connor Ziegler in the 200 butterfly (2:01.51), Seth Weidmann in the 200 backstroke (2:01.49), Kent Kramer in the 200 breastroke (2:17.17) and Andrew Howard in the 3-meter dive (137.10).

The Gusties claimed both relay event titles. The team of Jeff Pearson, Brad Hammer, Will Sutor and Scott Hagemeyer recorded the team’s season best in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.09. The team of Will Sutor, Scott Hagemeyer, Evan Christianson and Kent Kramer recorded a time of 3:14.00 to win the 400 freestyle relay.

Gustavus will travel to Wisconsin next weekend as they will compete in the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invitational.
