Gymnastics Team Places Fourth at Second Annual Cancun Classic Posted on January 8th, 2005 by

The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team finished fourth out of four teams at the Cancun Classic held at the Hilton Golf and Beach Resort in Cancun, Mexico. The University of Oklahoma won the meet with a score of 195.900. Brigham Young University finished second at 194.675, George Washington placed third at 191.625 and Gustavus placed fourth at 175.800.

The Gusties scored 44.975 on the vault, 40.100 on the uneven bars, 44.875 on the balance beam and 45.850 on the floor exercise. Danielle Berg recorded the highest individual score on the vault at 9.20. Amanda Parker led the team on the uneven bars with a score of 8.900 and on the balance beam with a score of 9.525. Bethany Peterson recorded the top score on floor exercise at 9.300.

Gustavus will open its home schedule next Friday night against defending National Champion University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. The meet begins at 7:00 pm in the Sponberg Gymnastics Studio in the Lund Center.
