Men’s Golf to Compete in the MIAC Championships Posted on October 7th, 2004 by

The Gustavus men’s golf team will compete in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships October 9-10 at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, Minn. The Gusties are in search of their third consecutive MIAC title.

Gustavus recorded a first place finish and two sixth-place finishes this fall. The Gusties started the season by winning the Saint John’s Invitational. The Gusties finished ten strokes ahead of the competition with a final score of 609. Clayton Johnson won medalist honors with a final score of 147. Head coach Scott Moe’s squad placed sixth at the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational with a score of 611. Arie DeGrio led the Gusties by placing 17th with a score of 152. Gustavus tied for sixth place at the Twin Cities Classic with a score of 920. DeGrio and Johnson tied for 17th with a score of 229 to lead the Gusties.

Arie DeGrio (FR, Grand Rapids, Minn.), Jon Hagedorn (JR, Blue Earth, Minn.), Clayton Johnson (JR, Anoka, Minn.), Mark Stuckey (FR, St. Peter, Minn.) and Erik Tone (SO, Willmar, Minn.) will represent the Gusties in the conference championships this weekend.
