The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf team will look to build upon the successes of the 2003-04 season. The Gusties placed third in the 2003 MIAC Championships and finished in sixth place at the 2004 NCAA Championships. Head coach Scott Moe will look to the leadership and experience of the junior and senior class to guide the Gusties this fall.
Head coach Scott Moe returns all five individuals that competed in the
national tournament this past spring. The returnees include Kelli Groff
(Junior, Bloomington, Minn.), Katie Aplin (Senior, St. Cloud, Minn.),
Kelsey Getz (Senior, Mendota Heights, Minn.), Erin Schliep (Junior,
Rochester, Minn.) and Alana Reetz. Groff, Aplin and Getz each earned
all-conference honors in the fall of 2003 and Reetz received all-state
honors in the spring of 2004. Coach Moe feels that consistency is the
biggest challenge for the team this fall. “Our top six to seven
players are capable of shooting in the 70’s. We need to shoot those
scores more consistently and in consecutive tournament rounds to be
successful this season,” Moe commented.
The Gusties open the season with a trip to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to
participate in the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational on September
4-5. The season will conclude with the conference championships on
October 9-10.
