Gustavus Men’s Tennis Defeats Coe 4-0 to Advance to NCAA Team Championship Posted on May 2nd, 2004 by

Top seeded Gustavus Adolphus College defeated second seeded Coe College 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Swanson Tennis Center on the Gustavus campus in St. Peter, Minn. The match was moved indoors due to poor weather conditions at the start time.

Gustavus claimed the doubles point with decisive wins at the #1 and #2 positions. Adam Morgan and Brett Morse-Karzen defeated Nick Barnes and Adam Elliott, 8-3 at #1 and Loren Collins and Ben Lundell defeated Jeff White and Chris Paasch 8-0 at #2. In singles play, Gustavus claimed wins by Loren Collins at #1, Adam Morgan at #2 and Brett Morse-Karzen at #6. The rest of the singles matches were not completed to make the final score 4-0.

Gustavus improves to 28-7 and will advance to the Division III NCAA Team Finals for the 11th consecutive year. The finals are scheduled to take place at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, May 12-14.
