Softball Sweeps Bethel 9-1, 2-0 Posted on April 16th, 2004 by

The Gustavus softball team swept Bethel College 9-1 and 2-0 on Thursday in Arden Hills, Minn. The Gusties improve their overall record to 17-9 and 11-1 in the MIAC.

In game one, Molly Biehn went three for three at the plate and brought in five runs for the Gusties. Biehn earned her tenth win on the mound scattering four hits in five innings of work.

In game two, Audrey Lenoch hit her sixth home run of the season, which is a school record for most home runs in a season. Molly Biehn and Julie Langenfeld set the record at five home runs in a season in 2001. Abby Bernstein scored on a Molly Biehn single in the sixth inning to make the final score 2-0 in favor of Gustavus.

Sara Medved tallied her seventh win on the mound for Gustavus. Medved allowed four hits and struck out eight batters in seven innings of work.

Gustavus will host St. Thomas on Saturday in St. Peter, Minn. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm.
