Men’s Tennis Team Will Host ITA Indoor Championship this Weekend Posted on February 24th, 2004 by

Gustavus Adophus will be hosting seven of the nation”s top Division III men’s tennis teams Feb. 27-29 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III National Men”s Team Indoor Championships in the Swanson Indoor Tennis Center.

Gustavus will be looking for its third straight title at this event, which serves as an indoor equivalent to the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
Emory (Ga.) is the No. 1 seed this week, Gustavus is No. 2, followed by No. 3
California-Santa Cruz and No. 4 Trinity (TX). The remaning four unseeded teams are: Bates (Maine), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Washington University (Mo.) and Washington & Lee (Va.)

Gustavus beat Emory 4-3 in last year”s final.

Friday’s first round schedule is as follows:
Emory vs. MIT, 11:30 a.m.
Trinity vs. Washington, 11:30 a.m.
UC-Santa Cruz vs. Bates, 5 p.m.
Gustavus vs. Washington & Lee, 5 p.m.

Play runs all day on Saturday, with semifinals at 2 p.m. Championship and
3rd-place matches are Sunday at 9 a.m.
