Gustavus Adolphus College freshman Scott Hagemeyer (Willmar, Minn.) posted two wins at the highly regarded UW-Steven’s Point Invitational last weekend and as a result has been selected as the MIAC Swimmer of the Week for January 19-25. Hagemeyer won the 50 free in a time of 21.56 and tied for first in the 100 free with a time of 47.58. Both times are the top times recorded in the MIAC this season. Hagemeyer also recorded a time of 46.12 in the 100 free as the anchor leg of the 400 free relay.
Hagemeyer is making his freshman year at Gustavus one to remember as he has not been beaten in the 100 yard freestyle (seven first place finishes) and he has lost only once in the 50 free (six first place finishes and one second place finish).
The Gustie men are hosting St. John’s on Saturday, January 31 to wrap up the regular season and they will then focus on the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center on February 12-14. Gustavus is in search of its third consecutive MIAC title.
Scott is the son of Douglas and Kim Hagemeyer of Willmar, Minnesota.
