Ingrid Olson named MIAC Female Skier of the Week Posted on January 29th, 2004 by

Gustavus Adolphus College nordic skier Ingrid Olson, a senior from White Bear Lake, Minn., finished 12th in the 10K classical race and 15th in the 5K freestyle race to lead the Gusties to a third place team finish at the NCAA Qualifying race in Cable, Wisconsin. As a result of her performances, Olson has been named the Female Skier of the Week for January 19-25 by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).

Olson made a late charge at end of the classical race last Saturday to edge a UW-Green Bay skier at the finish line. That point, allowed the Gusties to tie UW-Green Bay for third place in the overall standings which is the best finish in a NCAA Qualifying race in the program’s history. Olson is now very much in contention for one of the at-large berths to the NCAA Championships, which will take place March 10-13 in Truckee, California.

The Gustavus women’s nordic ski team will take part in two more NCAA Qualifying races before the MIAC Championships on February 21-22. The Gusties are in search of their third consecutive MIAC title.

Ingrid is the daughter of Gerry and Paulette Olson of White Bear Lake, Minnesota.-
