Women’s Tennis Defeats Northern State 8-1, St. Scholastica 9-0, and Winona State 5-4

The Gustavus women's tennis team had an undefeated Saturday with victories over non-conference opponents Northern State University, The College of St. Scholastica, and Winona State University. The Gusties defeated Northern State 8-1, St. Scholastica 9-0, and Winona State 5-4. Gustavus improves to 22-10 overall on the season.

Gymnastics Places Third At UW-La Crosse Triangular

The Gustavus gymnastics team compiled 165.425 points to take third place at the UW-La Crosse Triangular held in La Crosse, Wisc. on Friday night. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 181.775 points, as Winona State placed second with 178.150 points. Danielle Thibodeau and Sam Opsahl were the top Gustavus performers in the meet. Thibodeau placed third in the all-around with a score of 33.500, while Opsahl finished fifth on the vault with a mark of 9.175.

Thibodeau Shines As Gymnastics Team Drops Dual To Winona State

First-year gymnast Danielle Thibodeau posted a 36.350 in the all-around as the Gustavus gymnastics team fell 175.200-170.625 to Winona State University Thursday night on the Lund Center Forum in St. Peter, Minn. Thibodeau led the Gusties with first place finishes on the uneven parallel bars (8.775), balance beam (9.050), and floor exercise (9.250), while finishing second on the vault (9.275).

Gymnastics Falls In Season Opener To Winona State 176.925-171.225

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team began the 2009 season with a 171.225 to 176.925 loss to Winona State University in Winona on Thursday night. Seniors Christine Askham and Jennifer Berglund turned in the highest score among the Gusties with a score of 9.100 on floor exercise. Senior Laura Hansen had the top finish posting a score of 8.975 for second place on the uneven parallel bars. Askham also finished second in the all-around competition tallying 34.675 points.

Men’s Basketball Loses 75-59 To Division II Winona State

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's basketball team shot over 50 percent from the field, but was unable to overcome 15 turnovers in a 75-59 loss to defending NCAA Division II champion Winona State University on Saturday night in Winona. The Gusties were 25-of-48 shooting for 52.1 percent compared to 50 percent shooting for the Warriors. However, Winona State scored 22 points on Gustie miscues and converted 18-of-23 at the free throw line.

Women’s Tennis Wins Three Dual Matches To Improve To 3-1

The Gustavus women's tennis team was busy at the Swanson Tennis Center on Saturday as the Gusties defeated Concordia 9-0, Winona State University 8-1, and Augustana (SD) 8-1. The Gusties only dropped four sets over the course of the three dual matches as their overall record improved to 3-1.
