Men’s Soccer Team Ties Simpson 0-0, Scoring Drought Continues

The Gustavus men's soccer team battled non-conference opponent Simpson College to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes on Sunday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties outshot the Storm 21-1, but could not get the ball past Simpson goalkeeper Josh Youngman who made nine saves. Gustavus has now been held off the scoreboard for two consecutive games (a total of 200 minutes).

Women’s Soccer Loses to Simpson 2-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team fell to Simpson 2-0 in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon in St. Peter. Neither team was able to score a goal in the first half, but just nine minutes into the second half the Storm's Kellie Whitney beat Gustavus goalkeeper Chelsea Bayer for the 1-0 lead. Katherine Bird increased the Simpson lead to two with a goal in the 72nd minute.

Comeback Falls Short As Women’s Basketball Concludes Season With 73-64 Loss To Simpson

The Gustavus women's basketball team came up short in a 73-64 loss to ninth-ranked Simpson College despite composing a valiant second-half rally in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night in Indianola, Iowa. After facing a 17-point halftime deficit, the Golden Gusties fought back to within two points with 8:17 left after Bri Radtke hit a three-point shot from the left corner, but were unable complete the comeback.

The Gustavus women's basketball team will face Simpson College in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday, Mar. 7 at 7:00 pm at Cowles Fieldhouse in Indianola, Iowa. Gustavus Men’s Soccer Scores Two Goals in Five-Minute Span to Beat Simpson

The Gustavus men's soccer team opened its 2007 season with a convincing 3-0 win over Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. Senior forward Mike Butterworth scored the game's first goal in the 28th minute and added an assist later in the match. Sophomore forward Bret Vander Streek also tallied a goal and an assist in the victory. Senior Trevor Brown made three saves, all in the second half, to record the win between the posts for the Gusties.

Gustavus men's soccer won 3-0 in its home opener against Simpson College on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties were ahead 1-0 after 45 minutes of play but in the second half they showcased their offense and expanded the lead to 3-0. Alex Groth (Sr., Waupaca, Wisc.) and Gabe Joyes (Jr., Stoughton, Wisc.) both had a goal and an assist in the game for Gustavus.

Baseball Moves to 11-8 Overall With Split at Simpson

The Gustavus baseball team moved its record to 11-8 on the season with a non-conference doubleheader split with Simpson College Sunday in Indianola, Iowa. The Storm took game one, 5-1, but the Gusties scored nine unanswered runs to win game two, 9-2.
