Men’s Golf Ends Season With Sixth Place Finish At Saint John’s Invite

In the final event of the season Sunday, the Gustavus men’s golf team jumped up two spots at the Saint John’s Spring Invitational, finishing in sixth place of 16 teams with a two-round total of 601 (+29). The Gusties shot 307 in Saturday’s first round and improved to 294 in Sunday’s second round. Sunday’s third round was cancelled due to inclement weather.

In the second round Monday, the No. 20 Gustavus men’s golf team posted the lowest round of the day at the Bobby Krig Invitational to move into second place and within striking range of the title, but couldn’t replicate the result in the third and final round, finishing third with a score of 887 (+39). No. 15 nationally ranked Illinois Wesleyan won the event with an 875, while No. 11 Saint John’s took second at 883.

Aunan’s round of 67 is tied for the third lowest round in program history. The Gustavus men’s golf team shot a collective 283 (-5) and is tied for first place with Saint John’s, while the University of Manitoba is in third place with a 292 (+4).
