The Gustavus men's basketball team broke open a tight game with a 20-4 run late in the first half and never looked back on its way to a convincing 93-60 win at Saint Mary's on Wednesday night. The Gusties made 55.6 percent of their shots from the field (40-72) including an identical 20-of-36 from the field in each half. Trevor Wittwer scored 17 points to lead Gustavus to victory.

Gustavus extended its unbeaten streak over the Cardinals to 15 games as the Gusties improved to 11-1-0 overall.

The Gusties took game one, 13-2, and game two, 9-5, in nine innings. Gustavus pounded out 28 hits in the two games, including a home run by Pat Siering and a triple by Tony Konicek.

Men’s Tennis Posts Three Home Wins Saturday

The fifth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team improved to 16-6 overall and 8-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with home wins over University of Nebraska-Kearney (8-1), St. Cloud State University (7-2) and Saint Mary's University (9-0) at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter. The Gusties are idle until April 2 when they face Pomona-Pitzer in Pomona, Calif.

Senior Phil Sowden led all players with 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team posted a 72-61 victory over Saint Mary's Saturday at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. Gustavus (11-9, 9-6 MIAC) led by as much as 23 points midway through the second half before Saint Mary's (7-13, 6-10 MIAC) mounted a late charge to cut the lead to single digits. The Gusties host Concordia Monday evening.
