Women’s Soccer Opens MIAC Slate With 2-0 Loss to Carleton

The Gustavus Adolphus women's soccer fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 2-0 loss to Carleton on Wednesday in Northfield. Jenna Iaizzo took a game-high four shots, but was unable to find the net. Gustavus will host Concordia in another MIAC matchup Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Football Opens Season With 35-7 Win at Willamette (Ore.)

The Gustavus Adolphus football team opened the 2006 season in exciting fashion Saturday with a 35-7 road victory over Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Running back Adam Lukes (So., Watertown, Minn.) ran for three scores, while junior quarterback Jordan Stolp (Jr., Mankato, Minn.) found receiver Chad Arlt (So., St. Michael, Minn.) for two others.

Women’s Soccer Opens Season With 2-1 Double Overtime Win at Edgewood

The Gustavus Adolphus women's soccer team opened the 2006 season in thrilling fashion Friday with a 2-1 double overtime win at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. First-year Kirsten Thulien knocked in the game-winner in the 103rd minute off a corner kick. The Gusties outshot the Eagles 13-12 and sophomore Ashley Ohlson picked up the win in net.

Women’s Tennis Drops Spring Opener to BYU-Hawai’i 7-2

The Gustavus women's tennis team opened its spring season on the short end of a 7-2 result against NCAA Division II Brigham Young Univerity-Hawai'i Friday evening in Laie, Hawai'i. The Gusties will face University of Nebraska-Omaha Friday night (Feb. 10) at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter.

Men’s Tennis Opens Spring Season With 8-1 Win Over Division II Hawai’i-Hilo

The Gustavus men's tennis team opened its 2006 spring season Thursday evening with an 8-1 win over NCAA Division II Hawai'i-Hilo in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The Gusties (1-0) continue their swing through Hawai'i Friday against Brigham Young University-Hawaii and Saturday against Division I University of Hawai'i-Manoa before returning to Minnesota.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Downs Minnesota State in Opener

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team picked up wins in eight events, including both relays, to win a season-opening dual against Minnesota State, Mankato, 180-120, on Saturday at the Lund Natatorium in St. Peter. Junior Scott Hagemeyer (Willmar, Minn.) picked up four first-place finishes (two individual, two relay) on the afternoon for Gustavus.

Women’s Swimming and Diving Falls to Minnesota State in Opener

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team picked up only three wins in 16 events on Saturday, falling to Minnesota State University, Mankato, 170-130, in a season-opening dual Saturday at the Lund Natatorium in St. Peter. Ashley Baer won the 1000 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 100 backstroke to lead the Mavericks.

Men’s Hockey Downs UW-Stout in Season Opener

The Gustavus men's hockey team built a 3-0 first period lead against UW-Stout in its seasson opener and never looked back, defeating the Blue Devils 7-4 on Friday night in St. Peter. The Gusties improve to 1-0-0, while UW-Stout suffers their first defeat of the season, falling to 2-1-0. Sophomore Cody Drysdale (Mankato, Minn.) netted a pair and assisted on three others to lead Gustavus, while junior Steven Jensen (Kentwood, Mich.) added a goal and three assists.
