Women’s Tennis Bows Out of NCAA Championships With 5-1 Loss to Emory
The seventh-rated Gustavus Adolphus women's tennis team fell to fifth-rated Emory University 5-1 Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Team Championships being held at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Defending NCAA Division III doubles champions Tara Houlihan and Lyndsey Palen picked up the lone Gustavus point with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Gustavus closes its season at 28-5.
Women’s Golf Remains Third Heading Into Final Round of NCAA Championships
Despite a nearly five-hour lightning delay in the middle of the round, the Gustavus Adolphus women's golf team maintained their third-place position during Thursday's third round of the 2006 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships at the Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. After their third-round 331, the Gusties have a 56-hole team total of 987, five shots back of DePauw (982) and 12 shots clear of Wartburg (999). Methodist is cruising in first place with a team total of 928.
Women’s Golf Third Following Second Round at NCAA Championships
The Gustavus women's golf team fired a second-round 322 to move into third place at the midway point of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. With a two-day total of 656, the Gusties sit four shots back of second place DePauw (652) and eight shots clear of fourth place Wartburg (664). Methodist leads after 36 holes with a team score of 615. Rachel Roberg is currently the low Gustie with an 18-hole total of 160.
Women’s Tennis Draws Defending National Champion Emory in NCAA Quarterfinals
The seventh-rated Gustavus Adolphus women's tennis team will face Emory University in a NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Team Championship Quarterfinal Wednesday, May 17 in Santa Cruz, California. Gustavus is making its 17th trip to the quarterfinal round in 18 years. Emory is the three-time defending national champion.
Men’s Swimming and Diving Breaks Four School Records, Finishes 11th at NCAA Championships
The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team used a sixth in the 400 free relay, an eighth in the 1650 free and a tie for ninth in the 100 free to solidify its position as one of the top programs in the country at the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, which ended Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. The Gusties finished 11th with 118 points, just 1.5 points behind tenth place Tufts University.
Men’s Swimming and Diving Enters Final Day of NCAA Championships in 11th Place
The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team posted an 11th, a 12th and a 13th-place finish during day two of the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships to remain in the mix for a top ten team finish. The Gusties enter the final day of competition in 11th place with 70 points, just a pair of markers ahead of The College of New Jersey in 12th place. Gustavus will compete in five of seven events on Saturday, including the 400 freestyle relay, where it has the third-best seed time.

Led by an eighth place finish by the 200 freestyle relay, the Gustavus men's swimming and diving team finds itself in tenth place following the first day of the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. The Gusties have accumulated 44.5 points through six events. Kenyon has a commanding lead over the field, posting 158 points on day one.
Men’s Swimming and Diving Sends Ten to NCAA Championships
The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team has qualified ten swimmers to compete in the 2006 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. The championships will take place March 16-18 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Brian Amundson, Clement Auyeung, Billy Cuevas, Scott Hagemeyer, Ben Hanson, Jeff Pearson, Greg Pokorski, Matt Stewart, Tyler Wakefield and Connor Ziegler will compete in four relay events and nine individual events.
Chandra Daw Finishes 33rd in 15K Freestyle at NCAA Skiing Championships
Gustavus Adolphus senior Chandra Daw rebounded from a 38th place finish in Thursday's 5K Classic to post a 33rd place finish in Saturday's 15K Freestyle at the 2006 NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships at Howelson Hill near Colorado Springs, Colorado. Daw traversed the 15K course in 52:39.7. The Gusties finished 24th as a team with nine team points.
Daw to Participate in NCAA Skiing Championships This Weekend
Gustavus senior Chandra Daw will participate in the 53rd NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships this weekend, March 8-11, at Howelson Hill and Mount Werner near Steamboat Springs, Colo. Daw, Gustavus' first national qualifier (male or female), is one of six participants in women's Nordic from a Division III school. Daw will run the 5K Classic race Thursday morning and the 15K Freestyle Saturday afternoon.
