In a back and forth battle from start to finish Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink, the No. 4-ranked Gustavus women’s hockey team and No. 8-ranked St. Thomas skated to a scoreless draw. The 0-0 overtime tie is the first since Jan. 14, 2011 vs. Trinity (Conn.) and just the third in program history, which includes 582 games over 21 seasons.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team is set to drop the puck on the 2017-18 campaign Saturday against the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Action begins 2 p.m. at Siinto S. Gustavus Women's Hockey coach Mike Carroll is no stranger to success. When he was named MIAC Coach of the Year this year, it was the seventh time he’d earned the honor in his 18-year career. The Gusties have made 12 NCAA appearances over their 20-year history, and he has coached them to 12 MIAC regular-season titles.

Special Teams Shine, But Women’s Hockey Falls 3-2 In Overtime To Adrian In NCAA Semifinal

A gritty and scrappy performance by the Gustavus women’s hockey team Friday resulted in game that needed more than 60 minutes to declare a victor. But in a game that saw 19 penalties, including a season-high 10 called on the Gusties, host Adrian was able to take advantage of its opportunities in the offensive zone, eventually scoring the game-winning goal 13:15 into the extra frame.
