Gustavus Set To Host 2010 MIAC Men’s And Women’s Tennis Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's tennis teams are set to host the 2010 MIAC Championships at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex in St. Peter, Minn. on May 7-8. Both the men's (9-0) and women's (10-0) teams finished the MIAC regular season undefeated and enter the playoffs as the number one seed. The Gustavus men's team claimed its 25th consecutive league title, while the women's squad won its 19th consecutive title this season.

Women’s Tennis Claims MIAC Championship With 8-1 Win Over St. Olaf

The Gustavus women's tennis team won its third consecutive MIAC Playoff Tournament title on Saturday with a 9-0 semifinal win over St. Benedict and then an 8-1 Championship victory over St. Olaf. With the tournament title, the Gusties receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This will be the 22nd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for the Gusties.

Men’s Hockey Defeats Hamline 5-2 For First MIAC Playoff Championship Since 1993

The Gustavus men's hockey team scored five consecutive goals to defeat Hamline 5-2 in the MIAC Playoff Championship game on Wednesday in front of a standing-room only crowd at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Rory Dynan and Ross Ring-Jarvi registered two goals each, while goaltender Matt Lopes turned in a solid performance with 17 saves. The Gusties, which improved to 17-10-0 overall, earned their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1993.

Men’s Hockey And Hamline Set To Meet In MIAC Playoff Championship Game, Live Video And Stats Available

The No. 2 seed Gustavus men's hockey team will face No. 4 seed Hamline in the MIAC Playoff Championship on Wednesday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink with an 8:00 p.m. puck drop. The winner will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament Gustavus enters the contest at 16-10-0, while Hamline comes in at 16-10-1. The Gustavus Sports Information Department will be providing a live video broadcast of the game as well as live statistics.

Volleyball Falls To St. Thomas 3-1 In MIAC Playoff Championship Match

The 18th-ranked Gustavus volleyball team saw its 11-match winning streak come to an end as No. 6 St. Thomas defeated the Gusties 3-1 (20-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-25) in the MIAC Playoff Championship on Saturday night in St. Paul. Olivia Warren (Fy., Goodhue, Minn.), Meghan Gehring (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis.), and Angela Ahrendt (Fy., Shoreview, Minn.) tallied 12 kills each during the match, but it would not be enough as the Tommies' Katie McCaffrey posted a double-double with 20 kills and 11 blocks.

Women’s Hockey To Take On St. Thomas In MIAC Championship, Game To Be Broadcast Over Internet

The Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team will meet the University of St. Thomas in the MIAC Playoff Championship game Wednesday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter at 7 p.m. This will be the sixth consecutive meeting in the championship between the squads with the Gusties winning the last four title games. Wednesday's game can be watched through the Gustavus website beginning at 6:50 p.m.

Women’s Hockey Team Slips Past St. Thomas 1-0 To Win MIAC Playoff Championship

Gustavus senior forward Molly Doyle deflected a hard shot by teammate Kelsey Johnson past St. Thomas goaltender Lauren Bradel with 2:46 remaining in the third period to give the Gusties a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Tommies in the MIAC Playoff Championship game on Wednesday night at Gustavus. The Gusties, who improve to 25-2-0 on the season, receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as a result of claiming the playoff championship.
