Gustavus Set To Host 2010 MIAC Men’s And Women’s Tennis Championships Posted on May 6th, 2010 by

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s tennis teams are set to host the 2010 MIAC Championships at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex in St. Peter, Minn. on May 7-8.  Both the men’s (9-0) and women’s (10-0) teams finished the MIAC regular season undefeated and enter the playoffs as the number one seed.  The Gustavus men’s team claimed its 25th consecutive league title, while the women’s squad won its 19th consecutive title this season.

The women’s tournament will begin at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 7 with two quarterfinal matches on the Brown Outdoor Courts. #5 Saint Benedict will face #4 St. Thomas, while #3 St. Olaf will face #6 Saint Mary’s. Play continues Saturday, May 8 with semifinal matches scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and the championship match slated for 2:30 p.m. on the Brown Outdoor Courts. On Saturday, the #1 seed Gusties will face the lowest remaining seed, while the #2 seed Knights, will face the highest remaining seed.

This year’s men’s tournament will begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 7 with both quarterfinal matches on the Brown Outdoor Courts. Play continues Saturday, May 8 with semifinal matches scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and the championship match slated for 4 p.m. on the Brown Outdoor Courts. In the event of rain, play will be moved to Gustavus’ Swanson Tennis Center. In the event of rain, play will be moved to Gustavus’ Swanson Tennis Center. All matches contested outdoors will be played to completion. If weather forces the tournament indoors, matches will be played to decision.
