Neuenfeldt, Kammerer Named MIAC Softball Athletes of the Week

Gustavus softball student-athletes Ashley Neuenfeldt (So., Bloomington, Minn.) and Caitlin Kammerer (Jr., Watertown, Minn.) swept the MIAC’s weekly awards Monday. Neuenfeldt was named Pitcher of the Week and Kammerer earned Player of the Week.

Nick Aney Named MIAC Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

Nick Aney (Fy., Rochester, Minn.) played a large part in the Gustavus men's tennis team winning the consolation title at the ITA Indoor Championships, going a combined 6-0 between singles and doubles in three matches against nationally-ranked teams. For his performance, Aney has been named MIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week. 

Johnson Named MIAC Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

Chase Johnson (Sr., Golden Valley, Minn.) began the Gustavus men’s tennis team’s dual match season with a singles victory against a Division I opponent. Playing at No. 2 singles, Johnson dropped the first set, 6-1, before fighting back to win consecutive breakers 7-6, 7-6 against North Dakota.

Panning Garners Second MIAC Football Athlete of the Week Honor

Brice Panning (Jr., Hamburg, Minn.) hauled in six catches for a career-high 158 yards as Gustavus nearly knocked off No. 7-ranked St. Thomas in a 14-13 loss over the weekend. Five of Panning's catches went for first downs, highlighted by three catches of 30-plus yards, including a career-long 58-yard reception.

Veldman Named MIAC Offensive Player of the Week

Michael Veldman (Sr., Becker, Minn.) passed for 417 yards - the second most in his career - and accounted for five total touchdowns as Gustavus cruised to a 62-28 win at Carleton for the Gusties' fourth consecutive victory. For his performance, Veldman has been named MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week. 

Holtan Sisters Earn MIAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week Honors

Gustavus volleyball student-athletes Kate Holtan (So., Rochester, Minn.) and Nora Holtan (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) played exceptionally well in a pair of conference victories and for their efforts Kate has been named MIAC Hitter of the Week and Nora has earned MIAC Setter of the Week. 

Jacob Lamb Named MIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week

Jacob Lamb (Jr., Madison Lake, Minn.) was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points in challenging kicking conditions as Gustavus defeated Augsburg for the program's 500th victory all-time. Lamb battled 24-mile-per-hour sustained winds to match his career-high. For his performance, Lamb has been named MIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week. 

Panning Named MIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week

Brice Panning (Jr., Hamburg, Minn.) fielded a punt at the Gustie 42-yard line and returned it 58 yards for a score in the second quarter of Gustavus's 42-14 win at Hamline. The punt return touchdown is the first by Gustavus since Ethan Armstrong did so in 2006 against Macalester. For his performance, Panning received MIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors. 

Hanson Named MIAC Volleyball Hitter of the Week

Lauren Hanson (Sr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) averaged 3.24 kills per set along with a .303 hitting percentage as the No. 10 Gustavus volleyball team went 4-0 throughout the week to improve its winning streak to 10 matches. For her performance, Hanson has been named MIAC Volleyball Hitter of the Week for the second time this season. 

Severson Named MIAC Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week

Gustavus men’s soccer goalkeeper Anders Severson (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) has been named MIAC Athlete of the Week after posting back-to-back shutouts in the first two conference matches of the season as Gustavus defeated Carleton, 2-0, and Concordia, 1-0, in MIAC play last week.
