Matt Bateman Named MIAC Men’s Soccer Athlete Of The Week

Goalkeeper Matt Bateman (So., Savage, Minn.) and the Gustavus men's soccer team (3-7-1, 2-2-1, 7 points) posted two-straight 1-0 shutouts last week to gain valuable points in the MIAC standings. For the week, the sophomore logged 191:55 in goal with a total of 14 saves and no goals allowed, with a perfect 1.000 save percentage and a 0.00 goals against average. On Tuesday the Gusties defeated Saint Mary's 1-0 in double overtime as Bateman logged 101:55 in goal with seven saves and no goals allowed. Bateman followed that performance with another shutout in a 1-0 win over Carleton on Saturday as part of Gustavus's Homecoming celebration.
