Nordic Skiers Take Sixth At CCSA Championships
Both the Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic skiing teams placed sixth at the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships held in Houghton, Mich. on Saturday and Sunday. The men’s team collected 127 points, while the women tallied 140.
Men’s And Women’s Nordic Skiing Place Sixth At Mayor’s Challenge
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic skiing teams each placed sixth at the Mayor’s Challenge in Minneapolis Saturday and Sunday. Marian Lund and Anders Bowman led their respective teams for the Gusties. Lund took 41st in both Saturday’s 5K Classic and Sunday’s 10K Freestyle with a time of 19:39.4 and 26:20.0, respectively. Bowman took 38th place in Saturday’s 10K Classic with a time of 24:46.1 and placed 36th in Sunday’s 15K Freestyle in 36:49.8.

Both the Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic skiing teams took fifth place at the Saints Hilltop Invitational hosted by the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday and Sunday in Coleraine, Minn. Each team combined for a total of 70 points – the men earned 34 points in Saturday’s 10K Freestyle and 36 in Sunday’s Classic, while the women garnered 31 points in the 5K Freestyle and 39 in the Classic.

The Freestyle and Classic races were both held on the same day due to blustery conditions that hit the competition site on Friday with winds in excess of 40 miles per hour.

The meet serves as the Gusties’ conference championship, and precedes the NCAA Central Region Qualifier to be held the weekend of February 18-19.
