The Gustavus men's soccer team got back on track with a 7-0 win over Concordia on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties improve to 6-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the MIAC, while Concordia drops to 3-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the MIAC.
Men’s Soccer Reports For Pre-Season Training
The Gustavus men's soccer team reported to campus on Thursday, August 18 ready to begin fall camp and the start of the 2011 season. Head Coach Mike Middleton had 43 players report for duty Thursday afternoon, 15 of which are returning letterwinners. The Gusties will open the season on Thursday, Sept. 1 with a match against Wartburg College at 4:00 p.m. on the Gustie Soccer Field in St. Peter, Minn.
Ben Ceder, Lucas Thompson Named to All-Conference Soccer Team
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2011 Men's Soccer All-Conference Team and Gustavus players Ben Ceder and Lucas Thompson were named to the 20-member honor squad selected by the league coaches. Ceder , a junior midfielder and Thompson a sophomore defender were key contributors to a Gustie squad that finished with a record of 10-5-3 overall and 5-2-3 in league play.
Men’s Soccer Ties Carleton 1-1, Match Stopped Due To Severe Weather
The Gustavus men's soccer match with Carleton College was suspended in the 82nd minute due to lightning and then officially stopped after a 30-minute delay due to continued severe weather. The final result will be a 1-1 tie due to the fact that collegiate rules state that a match is considered complete once 70 minutes have been played if the full 90 minutes cannot be completed.
