Eight Football Players Named To NFF Hampshire Honor Society
Eight Gustavus Adolphus Football players have been named to the 2011 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society. The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all division of play who have maintained a 3.2 GPA or better. Lucas Armstrong, Brandon Jonker, John Juran, Jade Kotila, Zach Lundquist, Chris Martinez, Mike Mohs, and Paul Stommes represent Gustavus on this year’s list.
Three Second Half TDs Propel Football Team To 29-0 Win Over Northwestern
The Gustavus offense amassed 434 yards of total offense, while the defense limited the Northwestern offense to 149 yards and the result was a 29-0 win by the Gusties over the Eagles at Hollingsworth Field on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. Senior running back Lucas Armstrong sparked the Gustavus running game with a career-high 23 carries for 180 yards and one touchdown, while senior linebacker Jade Kotila anchored the defense with 10 assisted tackles and two interceptions.
Football To Take On Northwestern In Final Non-Conference Test Saturday
The Gustavus football team will take on Northwestern College in its final non-conference game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 1:00 pm in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties are 0-1 on the season, while the Eagles are 0-2.
Turnovers Prove Costly As Football Falls To Wartburg 27-6
The Gustavus Adolphus football team opened its 2010 season with a 27-6 loss at the hands of Wartburg College Saturday afternoon on Hollingsworth Field in St. Peter, Minn. Wartburg had 432 yards of total offense, compared to 239 for Gustavus. Wartburg linebacker Blake Suckow recorded a game-high 13 tackles (10 solo, 6 asst.). Gustavus falls to 0-1 on the season, while Wartburg improves to 2-0.
