Martinson Hat Trick Propels Gustavus Past Lake Forest 6-1

David Martinson posted three goals to help push the Gustavus men's hockey team past Lake Forest 6-1 on Saturday at All Seasons Arena in Mankato, Minn. Martinson scored one goal in the first period and twice in the second to become the 21st player in program history to record three career hat tricks or more. Gustavus maintained pressure in the Forester end all night as Coach Petersen's squad outshot Lake Forest 51-17.

Power Play Goal Lifts Women’s Hockey Past Lake Forest 2-0

Margaret Dorer (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) scored a power play 41 seconds into the third period to lift the Gustavus women's hockey team past Lake Forest 2-0 Friday night in St. Peter. The win marked the fourth time the Golden Gusties have defeated the Foresters all-time as Gustavus earned its first win of the season.

Men’s Hockey Team Opens With 7-0 Win At Lake Forest College

The Gustavus men's hockey team jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back as the Gusties opened their 2007-08 season with a convincing 7-0 win at Lake Forest College. Junior forward Mike Carr scored two goals (the first goals of his collegiate career) and freshman goaltender John Swartout made his first collegiate game one to remember as he picked up the win and recorded a shutout.

Women’s Hockey Edges Lake Forest 1-0 in Overtime

Senior defender Andrea Peterson (White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored with 32 seconds remaining in overtime to lead the third-ranked Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team to a 1-0 victory over Lake Forest College Friday night in Lake Forest, Ill. Sarah Windhorst stopped ten Forester shots to pick up her fourth win of year between the pipes. The teams will complete the weekend series Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
