Volleyball, Women’s Hockey Add Former All-American Gusties To Coaching Staffs
Two Gustavus women’s athletic teams that competed in their respective NCAA Championships last season have bolstered their coaching staffs with All-American graduates of the College. Alyssa Taylor ‘15 and Kirstin Peterson ’11 have been named assistant coaches for volleyball and women’s hockey, respectively.

Former women’s hockey standout and 2011 Gustavus graduate Kirstin Peterson returns to campus as the assistant women’s hockey coach. Peterson, a mainstay of the Gustavus blue line the past four seasons, recently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Fitness in May.

Women’s Hockey Advances To MIAC Playoff Championship With 5-0 Win Over St. Olaf
The Gustavus women's hockey team turned in a dominating performance against St. Olaf on Thursday night and advanced to the MIAC Playoff Championship game with a 5-0 win over St. Olaf at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. The Gusties, who will be playing in the MIAC Playoff title game for the eleventh consecutive year, will host #2 seed St. Catherine on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The Wildcats advanced with a 4-3 win over St. Thomas on Thursday night.
Women’s Hockey Spends Holiday Break Traveling and Playing in Italy and Switzerland
The Gustavus women's hockey team spent its holiday break playing hockey and touring northern Italy and Switzerland. During their trip, the Gusties played three exhibition hockey games. The marquee match-up was against the Switzerland National team, which will be competing in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver in early February. The team also took sightseeing tours of Milan and Lake Como in Italy as well as Lugano, Chur, St. Moritz and Zurich in Switzerland.
