DeWitz, Mahre Honored as MIAC Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced on Monday that Joyce DeWitz has been named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week, while Julie Mahre has been named the MIAC Player of the Week for softball. DeWitz and Mahre combined to help Gustavus post a record of 11-0 during the week and extend the team's winning streak to 21 games.
Gusties Sweep Augsburg, DeWitz Fires No-Hitter
The Gustavus softball team swept Augsburg by the scores of 7-0 and 11-0 on Monday afternoon in St. Peter. Joyce DeWitz threw a no-hitter in the 7-0 win in game one and then Betsie Collins allowed one hit in four innings on the mound in the 11-0 win in five innings in game two. Gustavus improves to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC.
Joyce DeWitz Named MIAC Pitcher of the Week
Joyce DeWitz, a sophomore from Good Thunder, Minn., has been named Pitcher of the Week in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. DeWitz tied an NCAA record with 20 strikeouts in a game against Concordia last Saturday.
Joyce DeWitz Strikes Out 20 to Help Softball Team Sweep Concordia
The Gustavus softball team extended its winning streak to eight games with two wins at Concordia on Saturday. The Gusties won game one 6-1 in 11 innings as Joyce DeWitz tied an NCAA record by striking out 20 Cobbers. Gustavus also won game two 6-1.
