Four Gusties Named MIAC Women’s Soccer All-Conference, Burnett-Kurie Coach-Of-The-Year

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2015 Women’s Soccer Awards on Thursday and Gustavus took home two of the top four honors. Laura Burnett-Kurie was named Coach-of-the-Year and goalkeeper Ashley Becker (Fy., Farmington, Minn.) was named Rookie-of-the-Year. Joining Becker on the All-MIAC Team are Maddison Ackliss (Jr., Fairbanks, Alaska), Sophie Leininger (So., Plymouth, Minn.) and Josie Mazzone (So., Rapid City, S.D.)

Women’s Soccer Travels To Saint Ben’s On Wednesday

The Gustavus women’s soccer team puts its conference lead on the line at 4 p.m. Wednesday as it travels to the College of Saint Benedict for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. The Gusties enter the match with a 7-4-1 overall record and are in first place in the MIAC with a mark of 5-1-0, while the Blazers are 6-4-2 overall and 4-2-0 in the MIAC, which is tied for third place.

Women’s Soccer Takes Conference Lead, Beats Augsburg 2-1

The Gustavus women’s soccer team claimed a key league win Saturday afternoon as it defeated Augsburg 2-1 in a battle of the top two teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Gusties improve to 7-4-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the MIAC with 15 points, which is good for sole possession of first place in the conference standings.
