Birgen Nelson, Jack Hanson Selected 2021-22 Gustavus Athletes of the Year
The Gustavus Adolphus College Athletics Department is pleased to announce the winners of the 20th Annual Gustavus Athlete of the Year awards. The 2021-22 recipients are track hurdler Birgen Nelson (Jr., Edina) and baseball first baseman Jack Hanson (Sr., Minnetonka).
Baseball Picks Up a Pair of Wins Against the Cardinals
The Gustavus baseball team completed the sweep of Saint Mary's University on Saturday with victories of 7-2 and 8-3. The Gusties are now 22-6 overall and 9-3 in the MIAC. Additionally, Jack Hanson (Sr., Minnetonka) hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning of game two, making him the first Gustie to hit 10 home runs in a season since Tony Konicek in 2007.
Offensive Onslaught Leads to Sweep Over Auggies
The Gustavus baseball team continued to dominate with a 14-1 game one win and a 17-3 game two win over Augsburg at home on Wednesday afternoon. With the wins, the Gusties improve to 18-4 overall and 7-1 in the MIAC.

SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus baseball team completed its weekend conference sweep winning 11-9 over Carleton with a walk off grand slam, followed by a convincing 17-1 game two victory. With the wins the Gusties improve to 16-4 overall and 5-1 in the MIAC.
