Rooney, Webster Named February Athletes of the Month

Men’s track and field student-athlete Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) and women's swimmer Maggie Webster (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College February Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Track & Field Qualifies Two for NCAA Indoor Championships, Six Earn All-Region Honors

The 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field participants were announced on Sunday and Gustavus will be represented by Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) and Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.). Rooney will compete in the 60-meter hurdles with a seed time of 8.14 (10th), while Hensch will compete in the shot put with a seed distance of 16.39 meters (15th) and the weight throw with a distance of 18.47 meters (16th). 

Track & Field Set to Compete at MIAC Indoor Championships This Weekend

The Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams are set to compete in the MIAC Indoor Championships on Thursday through Saturday at St. Olaf College. The men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon are on Thursday with the rest of the events running Friday and Saturday.

Hensch Named MIAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus senior throwing specialist Michael Hensch (North Branch, Minn.) has been named MIAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the CSB/SJU Invite last Saturday.

Track & Field Shows Improvement at Ted Nelson Classic

The Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams competed at the Ted Nelson Classic on Saturday, hosted by MSU-Mankato. The women took ninth out of 14 teams with a score of 15, while the men placed 11th out of 14 with 16 points.

Nine Gusties Compete at Chuck Peterson Open

A small contingent of the Gustavus men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams kicked off the indoor season Saturday at the Chuck Peterson Open & Multi, hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato. Four athletes on the men’s team and five from the women’s squad competed on Saturday.

Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its annual academic awards Thursday and both the Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field programs have been named All-Academic Teams. Additionally, Marisa Morgan (Rockford, Ill.) earned All-Academic status as an individual.

Hensch Takes 15th In Hammer At NCAA Track & Field Championships

Gustavus throwing specialist Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) concluded the outdoor season Saturday at the NCAA Championships, hosted by UW-La Crosse. Hensch placed 15th in the hammer throw with a toss of 178-2.25.

Hensch Places 12th In Shot Put At NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Gustavus throwing specialist Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) competed in the shot put Friday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships and took 12th place with a heave of 52-1.25. Hensch exceeded his entry as he was seeded 18th out of 20.

Men’s Track & Field Sits In Eighth Place After Friday At MIAC Championships, Women 12th

The 2017 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships continued Friday at the University of St. Thomas with a full slate of events. After the first day of team competition, the Gustavus men sit in eighth place with 25 points, while the women are in 12th with four points. St. Thomas leads both the men and women with 103 and 114 points, respectively.
