Men’s Soccer Looks To Rebound Saturday At Bethel

The Gustavus men’s soccer team travels to Arden Hills, Minn. Saturday to face the Bethel Royals for its eighth Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game of the season. The Gusties enter tomorrow’s 3:30 p.m. match 4-8-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the MIAC, while the Royals are 8-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in MIAC play. Gustavus is currently tied in the MIAC standings with Saint John’s for third, while Bethel and Augsburg are tied for eighth.

For the week, the sophomore logged 191:55 in goal with a total of 14 saves and no goals allowed, with a perfect 1.000 save percentage and a 0.00 goals against average. On Tuesday the Gusties defeated Saint Mary's 1-0 in double overtime as Bateman logged 101:55 in goal with seven saves and no goals allowed. Bateman followed that performance with another shutout in a 1-0 win over Carleton on Saturday as part of Gustavus's Homecoming celebration.
