After day one of competition at the Take Back the Night Challenge, the Gustavus men’s golf team currently sits in fourth place of 19 teams. The Gusties posted a score of 315 in round one which trails the leader Illinois Wesleyan by 15 strokes.

Due to recent snowfall, the Gustavus men’s golf team has postponed the Bobby Krig Invitational, which was scheduled for Sunday and Monday at the Le Sueur Country Club. The Bobby Krig Invite will be rescheduled for a later date this season.

The Gustavus men’s golf team competed in Camp Lejune, N.C. this past weekend and took home a 12th place finish. The Gusties carded a 311 on the Gold Course the final day to bring their three day total to 909 (+48).

The Gustavus men’s golf team will begin its spring season Friday when they travel to Camp Lejune, N.C. In their last event of the Fall, the Gusties tied for second in the MIAC Championships with a three round score of 886 (+22).

Captain, Holtan Honored at Minnesota’s Rochester Sports Banquet

A pair of Gusties were honored Monday night in their hometown of Rochester, Minn. for their athletic achievements after high school. Chris Captain ’18 and Nora Holtan ’19 were named Male and Female Post High School Athletes of the Year at Minnesota’s Rochester Sports Banquet, which celebrates southeast Minnesota’s 2018 top amateur athletes.

Pedersen Named MIAC Men’s Golfer of the Week

Gustavus’s Jacob Pedersen (Fy., Minnetonka, Minn.) earned medalist honors at the 2018 MIAC Men’s Golf Championships with a three-round total of 210, the second-lowest 54-hole mark in conference tournament history. For his performance, Pedersen has been named MIAC Athlete of the Week.

The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) recently released its annual academic awards and Gustavus men’s golf achieved 18Birdies All-Academic Team status. The Gusties are one of 34 Division III men’s teams to receive the recognition, which applies to teams with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

The Gustavus men’s golf team concluded its season Saturday by hosting the Bobby Krig Invitational at the New Prague Golf Course. The Gusties took fifth out of nine teams, posting a 303 (+19). Concordia-Moorhead won the event with a two-under 282.
