For the first time since 2008, the Gustavus baseball team is back in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs after salvaging a series split at St. Thomas on Monday. The Gusties dropped game one in a slugfest, 15-8, but a complete game pitching performance by Sam Archer (Jr., Zimmerman, Minn.) in game two resulted in a 6-1 playoff-clinching victory.

Lepel Named MIAC Baseball Athlete Of The Week

Nolan Lepel (Sr., Plato, Minn.) played a key role in Gustavus claiming three consecutive sweeps to keep the Gusties in the playoff hunt. For his performances, Lepel has been named MIAC Baseball Athlete of the Week.

Baseball Claims Third Consecutive MIAC Sweep, Tops Augsburg 4-1, 5-2

The Gustavus baseball team claimed its third consecutive MIAC sweep Sunday at Parade Stadium, defeating Augsburg 4-1 and 5-2. The Gusties (18-15, 10-8 MIAC) are in control of their playoff hopes as they need only one win or a loss by Concordia to clinch the sixth and final spot in the league postseason tournament – something they haven’t done since 2008.

Baseball Doubleheader At St. Thomas Postponed To Monday

Saturday's MIAC baseball doubleheader at St. Thomas has been postponed to 2:30 p.m. Monday. The postponement is due to a small chemical leak in Lund Center, which has closed the building and kept the team from gathering its equipment.

Baseball Concludes Regular Season At St. Thomas And Augsburg

The Gustavus baseball team is set to close out its regular season schedule this weekend with two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road doubleheaders at the University of St. Thomas and Augsburg University. The Gustavus baseball team tallied 19 hits through 14 innings en route to sweeping St. Olaf College Tuesday afternoon with 7-1 and 6-5 victories, improving its overall record to 14-15 and 6-8 within the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Baseball Opens May With Doubleheaders Versus Oles And Pipers

The Gustavus baseball team opens the month of May with back-to-back Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekday doubleheaders versus St. Olaf College and Hamline University. The Gusties (12-15, 4-8 MIAC) will face the Oles (14-14, 4-8 MIAC) in Northfield on Tuesday prior to hosting the Pipers (13-17, 6-8 MIAC) on Wednesday.

The Gustavus baseball team was swept Sunday afternoon during senior day at Gustie Baseball Field, dropping two games versus Macalester College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader.
