Winter Sports Canceled Jan. 8-10

Due to the increased number of COVID cases, recent NCAA guidelines, and policy changes that will soon take place, all Gustavus athletic events on Jan. 8, 9, and 10 are postponed. The MIAC contests are considered forfeit losses for the Gusties under the current MIAC policy.

No. 6 Women’s Hockey Shuts Out No. 9 Adrian 3-0

After a three week break, the Gustavus women's hockey team started 2022 with a 3-0 win over Adrian on Thursday night. The No. 6-ranked Gusties outshot the No. 9-ranked Bulldogs 38-9 to improve to 8-2 overall. 

Women’s Basketball Rolls to 81-49 Win Over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus women's basketball team scored a season high in points Wednesday evening, defeating Saint Mary's 81-49 at Gus Young Court, improving to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the MIAC. The Gusties shot 45.3 percent from the field with 13 different players scoring. 

Men’s Basketball Defeats Saint Mary’s 83-70

WINONA, Minn. - The Gustavus men's basketball team resumed conference play when they traveled to Saint Mary's on Wednesday night. The Gusties took an 83-70 victory and improve to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the MIAC. Kaleb Feahn (Sr., Waseca) led the team with 27 points with a season high six three-pointers while Pete Lundquist (Sr., Rochester) made nine rebounds and impressed with five blocks in the win.

Women’s Hoops Claims New Year’s Day Win Over UW-Stout

The Gustavus women’s basketball team kicked off 2022 with a 69-53 win over UW-Stout on Saturday. The Gusties used a 29-point second quarter to gain a comfortable lead and held on for the remainder of the game, improving to 7-2 on the season.

Men’s Basketball Opens 2022 with 82-69 Win Over Crown

SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus men's basketball team hosted Crown College for a non-conference New Year's Day game. The Gusties were victorious in the 82-69 final and move to 5-5 overall and remain 2-3 in the MIAC. Nolan Malo (Sr., Owatonna) had team highs of 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Holtan Garners Second Consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-America Honor

Gustavus volleyball player Kate Holtan (Sr., Rochester) has been selected to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America Volleyball Team, which was announced Thursday. Academic All-America Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Women’s Basketball Home Game vs. UW-Stout Rescheduled for Jan. 2

The Gustavus women's basketball team's non-conference home game against UW-Stout scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 is postponed to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1 (Note: the game was originally rescheduled for Jan. 2). The game on Jan. 1 will be the second half of a Gustie home doubleheader as the men host Crown at 1 p.m.

Men’s Hockey Wins 7-2 at Concordia-Wisconsin

MEQUON, Wis. - The Gustavus men's hockey team traveled to Wisconsin on Saturday for a 2021 non-conference closer. The Gusties took a 7-2 win and improve to 3-7-1 and remain 0-3-1 in the MIAC. Seniors Patrick Gazich (Sr., Minnetonka) and Connor Clemons (Sr., Savage) each had a pair of goals in the process.

Strong Third Quarter Pushes Women’s Basketball Past St. Kate’s

The Gustavus women’s basketball team Saturday got back to its winning ways, defeating St. Catherine 65-55. The Gusties improve to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the MIAC, while the Wildcats drop to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the league.
