The Gustie softball season came to an end Saturday, suffering a 1-0 loss to MIAC Regular Season Champions Bethel. The Gusties and Royals combined for only six hits in the entire game, as Piper Otto and Bethel pitcher Kayla Simacek put on a clinic in the semifinal matchup, combining for 15 strikeouts.

Softball Advances to MIAC Playoff Semifinals with 4-1 Win Over St. Catherine

The Gustavus softball team put together a strong defensive performance against St. Catherine in the opening round of the MIAC Playoffs, defeating the Wildcats 4-1 to advance to the semifinals. The Gusties scored all four of their runs in the first three innings of the game, and held the Wildcats to just one in the fifth for the playoff victory.

Gusties Sweep Martin Luther in Regular Season Finale

The Gusties wrapped up their regular season play with a non-conference doubleheader against Martin Luther, sweeping the Knights by scores of 2-1 and 8-0.

Softball Splits with Carleton in MIAC Regular Season Finale

In their final regular season conference matchup, the Gusties split with Carleton, with each game decided by only one run. Game one saw a walk-off 4-3 victory in favor of the Black and Gold, while game two went to the visitors, 2-1.

Gusties Win Big on Senior Day

The Gustie bats were alive and well against Augsburg Sunday afternoon, getting two five-inning victories, totaling 22 runs between the two games. The pitching trio of Piper Otto, Maizie Anderson, and Marah Hulke pitched two shutouts to help the Gusties improve their MIAC standing to 13-7.

Softball Posts MIAC Sweep of St. Catherine

The Gustavus softball team swept St. Catherine for the first time since 2016, getting wins of 1-0 and 5-4 over the Wildcats in the crucial MIAC series. The wins move the Gusties up to a share of fourth in the MIAC standings, and improve the team's conference record to 10-6 and overall record to 17-15.

Herda Named MIAC Softball Player of the Week

Kayla Herda had a 13-hit week for the Gusties, leading the team through a seven-game win streak and five MIAC victories. Herda averaged .591 (13-for-22) with an on-base percentage of .625 in six games, scoring six runs with nine RBI while belting four extra-base hits including her first home run of the season against Concordia on 4/19. For her performance, Herda was named MIAC Softball Player of the Week.

Otto, Anderson Shutout Pipers, Lead Gusties to Sixth Straight Win

The Gusties silenced the Pipers Saturday afternoon, allowing only nine hits off Piper Otto and Maizie Anderson in two games. With wins of 4-0 and 9-0, the Gusties extended their win streak to six, posting their third MIAC sweep in a row.
