Women’s Basketball Advances to MIAC Championship by Beating Concordia-Moorhead 63-52

The Gustavus women's basketball team advanced to the conference championship game with its semifinal win over Concordia-Moorhead by the score of 63-52. After the first half, the score was tied 25-25, but the Gusties outscored the Cobbers 38-27 in the second half to claim the 11-point victory. Gustavus will meet St. Ben's on Saturday for the MIAC Championship game in St. Joseph, Minn at 3pm.

Men’s Tennis Records Dual Victories Over Hamline, Concordia, and UW-Eau Claire

The Gustavus Adolphus men's tennis team improved their overall record to 3-3 after posting 9-0 wins over Hamline, Concordia-Moorhead, and UW-Eau Claire Saturday. John Kauss was a double-winner against both Hamline and UW-Eau Claire. The Gusties will host South Dakota State, Minnesota State Mankato, and Duquesne University this Saturday (Feb. 17), while also facing Macalester in a MIAC dual.

Men’s Basketball Rides Hot Shooting to 80-57 Win Over Concordia

The Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team shot 61.5% from the field and held a 2-to-1 advantage in rebounds en route to a 80-57 win over Concordia Monday in St. Peter. Andrew Doble led four Gusties in double-figures with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting off the bench. The Gusties (12-9, 10-6 MIAC) host league-leader St. Thomas (20-2, 16-1 MIAC) Wednesday at Gus Young Court.

Men’s Basketball Falls to Concordia 63-58

The Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team fell to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC with a 63-58 loss at Concordia Monday night in Moorhead. Andrew Doble led the Gusties, who trailed 41-31 at haltime, with 11 points off the bench. Gustavus will face University of St. Thomas Wednesday evening at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul.

Men’s Hockey Completes Sweep of Concordia 5-2

The Gustavus Adolphus men's hockey team downed Concordia-Moorhead 5-2 Saturday to complete a weekend sweep of the Cobbers in Moorhead. Mike Hosfield scored twice and Joe Welch and Niko Suoraniemi each scored a goal and an assist for the Gusties, who host Saint John's in a non-conference game Tuesday evening in St. Peter.

Women’s Hockey Wins Third Straight, Downs Concordia 4-1

The Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team moved to 3-1-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in the MIAC after downing Concordia-Moorhead 4-1 Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. Jessica Doig scored two goals, while Stefanie Ubl was credited with three assists. Gustavus is idle until Dec. 1-2 when they face Hamline in a home-and-home series.

Men’s Hockey Takes MIAC Opener at Concordia 2-1 for First Win of Season

The Gustavus Adolphus men's hockey team put their first mark in the win column for the 2006-07 season with a 2-1 victory over Concordia-Moorhead Friday night in Moorhead. Jon Keseley and Kyle Rohlfs each lit the lamp once for the Gusties, who improve to 1-3-1 overall, 1-0-0 in the MIAC. The teams will play again Saturday afternoon.

Volleyball Falls to Concordia 3-1

The Gustavus volleyball team fell to #4 ranked Concordia College 3-1 Friday evening in St. Peter. The Cobbers won the first two games (30-15, 30-19) but the Gusties rallied to win the third game 30-28. However, Concordia stormed back to win the fourth game 30-21 and the match. Gustavus falls to 15-8 overall and 6-2 in the MIAC, while the Cobbers improve to 19-1 overall and 8-0 in the conference.

Women’s Soccer Ties Concordia 0-0

The Gustavus women's soccer battled Concordia-Moorhead to a 0-0 tie in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. Both teams had scoring opportunities throughout the game but neither was able to capitalize on them. The Gusties' record moves to 2-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference. The Cobbers are now 4-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the MIAC.

Women’s Golf Finishes Third at Concordia Invitational

The Gustavus Adolphus women's golf team captured third place Sunday at the Concordia Invitational held at Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Minn. The Gusties shot 325-335--660 to finish 16 shots back of champion North Dakota State (319-325--644) and 11 shots back of University of North Dakota (322-327--649). Sophomore Rachel Roberg (Rice Lake, Wis.) finished second overall after posting a final round 79 for a 36-hole total of 157.
