Double overtime wasn’t enough to decide a winner in Wednesday’s MIAC women’s soccer semifinal playoff match. Tied 1-1 after 110 minutes and forced to penalty kicks, Gustavus keeper Ashley Becker (Jr., Farmington, Minn.) came up big with two stops and the Gusties, seeded No. 6, made all four attempts to upset No. 2 seed St. Thomas and advance to the MIAC championship game for the second time in three seasons.

Chase Miller’s (Jr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) team-leading fourth goal of the season with 29 seconds left in the game moved the Gusties to 9-4-3 overall and 5-3-2 in the MIAC, while the Pipers dropped to 8-7-2 overall and 4-5-1 in the league.

For the second consecutive game the Gustavus women’s soccer team played to a double overtime scoreless draw, this time against Saint Benedict on Saturday at the Gustie Soccer Field. The tie moves the Gusties to 7-4-3 overall and 3-3-2 in the MIAC, while the Blazers move to 8-2-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the league.
