Women’s Basketball Escapes With 73-71 Victory at Bethel
Bri Monahan scored 26 points and Jess Vadnais added another 20 as the Gustavus women's basketball team posted a 73-71 win over Bethel Monday night in Arden Hills. The Gusties improve to 15-5 overall, 13-4 in the MIAC with the victory and locked down at least a first-round home game in the MIAC Playoffs.
Bethel Completes Sweep of Men’s Hockey 6-2
The Gustavus men's hockey team put the first goal on the board, but allowed four straight goals as Bethel completed a weekend sweep with a 6-2 win at Columbia Arena in Fridley. Steven Jensen and Mike Hosfield scored for the Gusties, who have lost three of their last four. Gustavus will face St. Thomas in a weekend series beginning Friday in Mendota Heights.
Men’s Hockey Downed by Bethel 4-1
The Gustavus men's hockey team fell to Bethel University 4-1 Friday night in St. Peter. The Royals scored just 2:17 into the game to take a lead they would not relinquish. Gustavus falls to 12-5-1 overall, 7-2-0 in the MIAC. The teams will meet again Saturday evening at Columbia Arena in Fridley.
Women’s Basketball Cruises to 78-63 Win Over Bethel
The Gustavus women's basketball team overcame a one-point halftime deficit and broke the game wide open in the second half, downing Bethel University, 78-63, on Saturday afternoon in a MIAC game at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. The Gusties, who improve to 7-3 overall, 5-2 in the MIAC, had three players in double figures led by Jess Vadnais with 17. Gustavus will host St. Olaf on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Men’s Soccer Downs Bethel 3-1; Earns Share of MIAC Title
The Gustavus men's soccer team rounded out its regular season with a 3-1 win over Bethel Saturday afternoon in Arden Hills. The win raised the Gusties' overall record to 13-2-3 and moved their unbeaten streak to seven games. It also gave Gustavus a share of the MIAC regular season crown with Macalester. Both teams posted a 7-1-2 league record.
Women’s Soccer Tops Bethel 3-1
The Gustavus women's soccer team fell behind by a goal in the first five minutes, but rebounded to notch a 3-1 victory over Bethel University on Friday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties moved to 7-10-1 overall, 4-6-1 in the MIAC with the win in the season finale. Bethel rounds out their season at 6-10-2, 1-8-2 in the conference.
Volleyball Swept By Bethel 3-0
The Gustavus volleyball team saw their short two-match winning streak come to an end Wednesday night, falling to Bethel University 3-0 in Arden Hills, Minn. Sophomores Andrea Kron (Cold Spring, Minn.) and Jennifer Thelemann (Le Sueur, Minn.) led the Gusties offensively with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Bethel improves to 13-4 overall and 3-1 in the MIAC with the win, while Gustavus slips to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the league.
